Ward has developed a career as a luxury property developer since he retired from football in 2005. In 2009 his property development company, Bilton Ward Developments, was forced to enter a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) after being hit by the recession. He has other businesses and Bilton Ward Developments have successfully exited the CVA. The club considers that he is the only bidder to have presented short-term and long-term funding proposals.
Another bidder has emerged in the form of Stephen Cleeve who annnounced his intentions in a tweet. The controversial businessman has stood as a UKIP candidate.
