A Danish consortium has stepped in to try and save Conference outfit Chester City four days before they are likely to be voted out of the league by their fellow clubs.  Businessman Palle Rasmussen reached an agreement with the Vaughan family, the current owners, at the Deva Stadium on Satirday.  However, the news has not gone down well with supporters’ group City Fans United.  Rather than seeing the Danish consortium as saviours, they think they do not have the experience to run the club or the funds to pay off the debt.   Read more here.

Rasmussen told the Liverpool Daily Post that he had met the club’s largest supporters group prior to his meeting with Vaughan and his advisors at the weekend. He added: “We met the CFU at a pre-arranged meeting, then after our meeting with the Vaughans we went back to talk to them about the proposals, but they wouldn’t meet us which was disappointing.

“Our plan involves developing local youth players and we have already had discussions with local coaches about our plans as well as somebody from the local council. It could be that we bring a few Danish players over to supplement the squad.”

The only Palle Rasmussen I can trace is a professor at Aalborg University, but apparently the group is made up of 500 investors with a love of English football.  It was formed on the internet.
