Italian bid for Orient?

Napoli chief Aurelio Del Laurentiis could buy Leyton Orient as a satellite side, Gazzetta dello Sport have claimed (the report has also been carried by a Napoli website). They state that the Partenopei President has sounded out the League One team as one where he could send some of Napoli’s youngsters for first team experience.

De Laurentiis has seen the example set by the Pozzo family’s Udinese, who are tied with Championship team Watford and Spanish club Granada. It is unclear however, whether current Leyton Orient owner Barry Hearn would be willing to sell his east London side.

However, he could be tempted by the right offer given what he sees as the harmful impact on Orient of West Ham’s move to the Olympic Stadium.
