Tranmere Rovers got a boost in their battle to escape relegation with a 3-1 win over table topping Norwich City on Friday night. Their Supporters’ Trust has thought up some ingenious ways of raising some extra money for the club as it tries to avoid the drop. The sums raised so far have not been large, but as they say, every little helps.

It has always been difficult for Rovers living in the shadow of the two big Merseyside clubs and the other Wirral league club, New Brighton, disappeared altogether. When I visited there some years ago, I found them to be a friendly club and I hope their fund raising efforts go well.
