It’s a path that’s been beaten by other clubs from much smaller towns before, most recently Annan Athletic. East Kilbride, which was Scotland’s first new town, has a population of 73,000. However, it forms part of the Greater Glasgow conurbation and those of its inhabitants who are football fans are likely to have an allegiance to a Glasgow club, most likely one of the two Old Firm teams.
