They reckon that given some investment Wednesday have all the ingredients to become a Premier League outfit. They certainly have a proud history and a fine if somewhat old fashioned stadium. They are, however, one of two clubs in a not particularly large or prosperous city which is best known in sporting terms for its annual hosting of the snooker championships. Nevertheless, perhaps the surge in support for Sheffield MP Nick Clegg may be a good omen for the city’s clubs.
