Accrington Stanley Given Deadline

Accrington Stanley have been given eight weeks to pay £308,000 to the Inland Revenue or face closure. After being served with a winding up order in May for unpaid taxes, the clubs were under the impression that they had 12 months to find the money. The club hope that they can raise about £200,000 in the eight week period to pay off two-thirds of the debt in the anticipation that they will then be given extra time to pay off the balance. £10,000 has already been raised through bucket collections and a £5,000 donation from the United States.
