The have been other Premier League clubs at £196m. Bundesliga clubs have been a particular target this summer, receiving £161.5m. Ligue 1 clubs have been paid £106.1m and La Liga £83.8m. This is more than the £66.5m that has gone to Football League clubs so the ‘trickle down’ effect is limited.
Manchester City are currently the biggest net spenders at £101.9m, followed by Newcastle United at £42.5m. Southampton are currently showing a net profit of £7.3m.
