What did happen at Pompey?

This article is an interesting and evocative piece by a fan about events at Portsmouth.  A bit sepia tinged perhaps, but well worth reading nevertheless.   At the end he suggests that someone should write a book about what has happened there and probably they will.   If we were not an amateur site run by two people trying to find time in between doing their day jobs, it would be worth launching full-scale imvestigations into cases like Portsmo

This article is an interesting and evocative piece by a fan about events at Portsmouth.  A bit sepia tinged perhaps, but well worth reading nevertheless.   At the end he suggests that someone should write a book about what has happened there and probably they will.   If we were not an amateur site run by two people trying to find time in between doing their day jobs, it would be worth launching full-scale imvestigations into cases like Portsmouth or indeed Hull.   We don’t have the resources to do that, but the study of the economics and business side of sport is growing in higher education and many students are writing dissertations on the topic.   They are of variable quality, but I have seen some very good ones where skills in economics or accountancy have been effectively deployed to understand the admittedly rather special world of football finance.

Some interesting questions about events at Portsmouth are also put in this in depth article.
