Wednesday not to be sold to former ‘sex symbol of the year’

Sheffield Wednesday owner Milan Mandaric has denied reports that the club is to be sold to a former ‘sex symbol’ of the year and Playboy model, Sybil Danning.   He has, however, confirmed that the club is available for sale to the right bidder.   Mandaric formerly owned Portsmouth and Leicester City before selling them on so he has a track record of buying and selling clubs.

Despite being described as a ‘Hollywood action actress’, Sybil Danning and her husband Horst Losse are credible bidders.   They have a stake in a West German ice hockey team.   I can’t recall a case, in Europe at any rate, where someone has started off investing in hockey and then moving to football, but the Sheffield Steelers are regarded as one of Britain’s top hockey teams.

Danning stated that she and her husband have been looking for an English team with a strong fan base and great potential and Wednesday certainly fit the bill as they are punching below their weight in the third division.
