United fans may not renew season tickets

Nearly 60 per cent of Manchester United fans may not renew their season tickets next season according to a survey by Virgin Money, the highest number for any club.  If this happened, it would really hit the Glazers hard in the pocket.  However, it is one thing to give a hypothetical answer to a question in a survey and another to actually give up a season ticket when it comes to the decision point.   There would also be considerable demand for seats given up.

United fans abandoned their idea of a ‘late protest’ at last night’s game against AC Milan.  David Beckham picked up one of the green-and-gold scarves used as a symbol of protest by fans as he left the pitch and put it round his neck.  However, he later emphasised that this was not to be interpreted as a protest against the club’s owners.
