Rather than spending money on bringing in players, Ipswich are trying to develop their existing ones.   Since 2010 they have spent an average of £0.2m a year on gross purchases, whilst net sales have amounted to an average of £3.5m.

They are still making a loss of £7.6m a year, albeit down from earlier years.   But as the Swiss Ramble points out, almost all Championship clubs do run at a loss.   The only exceptions last year were the ones that were relegated.

There is £86m in debt, but it is all owed to the Marcus Evans Group, the company of the owner.
