The debts of Hull City are variously estimated at £20m or £30m.   There is no immediate financial crisis, but the start to the season has been disappointing and the club would benefit from a cash injection.

Head of football operations Adam Pearson has taken part in the talks.   It is believed that former Leeds director Pearson is keen to stay involved and is willing to plough some of his own money into the club.
