Tottenham Hostpur have registered an interest in bidding for use of the Olympic Stadium in East London after 2012.  This is in spite of the fact that Haringey Council approved their plans for the re-development of White Hart Lane, the Northumberland Development Project, on Thursday.

However, this does not necessarily mean a head-to-head battle between Spurs and West Ham who have had a longstanding interest in moving to the stadium.   It looks like a prudent move on the part of Spurs to keep their options open.

Earlier in the week it was thought that Spurs would launch a joint bid with the US entertainment conglomerate AEG which operates the O2 Dome.  However, AEG may now go it alone.
