When I was a kid the names of a number of Scottish clubs fascinated me, but no more so than the long disappeared Third Lanark. Where were first and second Lanark? Of course, it was the name of a local government unit (third district) in Lanarkshire. I can’t think of any other examples of a club being named after a local authority.
