The Scottish League Cup will need a new sponsor after Cooperative Insurance announced that they would not renew their contract when it expires at the end of the season.   Originally as CIS, they have been sponsors since 1999.

Despite talk from the Scottish Football League about the cup offering a ‘great promotional platform at the heart of Scottish football’, this is the third ranked competition in Scotland.   Four of the clubs involved did not turn up to the quarter final draw, but the sponsors insisted this had nothing to do with thier decision to withdraw.   It will not be easy to find a new sponsor in the current economic climate.
