It has been calculated that English season ticket holders missed an average of four Premier League matches last season, a total of 1.8 million seats and about 20 per cent of the 8.75 milliion seats available.  Some stattos resent the fact that they are counted as there in attendance figures whether they turn up or not, but the Football League calculates its levy on the basis of seats sold, not who is in the ground.

Now online exchange Viagogo has come up with a scheme that allows season ticket holders to officially re-sell their seats online.   Nine Premier League clubs have signed up and most of them have agreed, Chelsea being the main exception, that fans could set the price they wanted for their tickets.  Other clubs taking part include Manchester City and Newcastle United.
