The new owners of Pompey have said they hope they can get out without being hurt.  Balram Chainrai and his Israeli business partner Levi Kushnir see themselves as ‘accidental’ owners and say they’ll be lucky not to lose their investment.

Chainrai and Kushnir, who’ve never run a sports team, have sought advice from Israeli agent Pini Zahavi and British-based Iranian businessman Kia Joorabchian.    Joorabchian has been a somewhat controversial figure and there are those who think that football would be better off without his involvement.  He is sometimes described in the press as a football agent but is not licensed.  Whether he is the best person to take advice from is open to question.

There is no question of spashing the cash to win promotion.   Kushnir emphasised, ‘There will be not be a shopping spree of expensive players’.
