Ian Lenagan has owned Oxford United since 2008 but he has now taken over as chairman from Kelvin Thomas. Also the owner of rugby league side Wigan Warriors, he made his fortune through setting up his own software company Workplace Systems International.
He wants to see promotion this year with the club in the Championship within five years. He admits that aspiring to the Premiership would be a step too far.

He has invested £150,000 in the fitness and sport science department which will enable work on psychology, strength and conditioning. He believes this will benefit the club and the players in terms of fitness and injury prevention.
Part of his long-term plan is to purchase the Kassam Stadium, currently owned by former chairman Firoz Kassam. However, it would have to be at the right price and on the right terms.
As an egg chaser himself, albeit in the other code, Lenagan is relaxed about sharing the stadium this year with London Welsh. He thinks that the pitch can take the extra load, drawing on his experience of ground sharing at Wigan. One possibility is for both clubs to make a joint bid for the stadium.
