The finances of the Owls are found to be not too bad for a Championship club.  However, the underlying business is loss making.   They have not made any money out of player trading for some years.

They are very dependent on match day revenues for income.   Only four clubs in the Championship have a higher reliance on this revenue stream.    In so far as there has been an improvement in their finances, it is largely down to the Championship television deal.  However, the new owner hopes to raise their commercial profile in the Far East, although that is not easy when one is up against Premiership clubs with a higher profile.
