However, Ofcom has now ruled that he invaded the privacy of the chairman of the supporters’ trust at Leeds, Gary Cooper. Bates remains chairman at Leeds until the end of the season and will then become honorary life president. Given his continuing role, it has been suggested that he should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute.
Leeds United Supporters’ Trust has issued a statement on the matter, although there is an interesting dissenting comment.
