Partick Thistle, who have been struggling financially in recent years, have been dealt a new set of blows.  Glasgow Warriors, the professional rugby side who currently play their games at Firhill, have decided to move to the Scotstoun Stadium in 2102.

Then last week Sangs, the parent company of shirt sponsors macb, were forced into administration.  The combination of these two events could cost the club £250,000, although most of it would result from the departure of the rugby team.

The club intends to involve fans in helping the club out of its predicament.   A group of supporters would be invited to sit on a ‘sub board’ with the objective of delivering new funding streams.  In addition a community trust would be developed to engage with people in the local area.

Any move away from the historic stadium has been ruled out.   The club is also wants to stay full-time if it possibly can.   If it did go part-time at least it could draw on a pool of players in the central belt of Scotland.   Queen of the South went part-time but they train in the week in Glasgow which is where most of their players are from.
