The two front runners remain Balram Chainrai’s Portpin Group and the Portsmouth Supporters’ Trust. They have been given an extension by the administrator while they undergo the Football League’s fit and proper person test. The football authorities are concerned about how the Supporters’ Trust would deal with the £8m pledged to former players, while they are concerned about the amount of debt Portpin would carry over.
Sulaiman Al Fahim has still not provided proof of funds by depositing them in a UK bank and his intervention is increasingly looking less serious. One wonders why people make unsupported bids of this kind. Perhaps they think that any publicity is good publicity.
