Melbourne Heart rebranded as City

A-league side Melbourne Heart, 80 per cent owned by Sheikh Mansour, has been rebranded as Melbourne City.   It has also been given a new badge with more sky blue in it.   The name change aligns it with Manchester City and New York City, the idea being to spread the City brand across the globe.

However, the move has run into controversy.   There is already a Melbourne City, albeit playing in the fifth division, although once they were in  the top flght.   Their spokesman sounded pretty angry when he was interviewed on Radio 5 and threatened legal action.   Whether a club with four or five hundred members can take on Sheikh Mansour is another question.
