Suspicions have been raised that the probe is a government-backed attempt to install new management in the football federation. Urgur Vardan, sports editor of the daily newspaper Radikal said, ‘There is no concrete proof, but there is a belief that the chairman of the football federation is chosen with the consent of the prime minister.’
