The takeover of Leeds United by Massimo Cellino is now in jeopardy after an Italian court found him guilty of tax evasion.   It will now be very difficult for the Football League to approve the takeover.  Cellino is going to appeal against the decision.

The League’s  ‘owners and directors’ test, prevents anyone with an unspent conviction for dishonesty offences from being a director, a 30 per cent owner, or from exercising control over one of its clubs which points to the Cellino takeover being blocked.

David Conn of The Guardian has retweeted a report that he faces two more trials for tax evasion this year, one in relation to another yacht and another in relation to a car.

This is a big setack as Leeds, particularly as Cellino has lent them money to keep them going.   There is no clear way forward.   Leeds fans have been through the mill for over ten years with the club unable to realise its potential.
