Go ahead for new Aberdeen stadium

Aberdeen FC have received planning approval from local councillors for their new stadium at Loirston Loch in the south of Aberdeen.  Given the size of the project, the Scottish Government could have called it in for review but chose not to do so.

The 22,000-seater stadium will cost £38m and work will now start on funding plans, but the club’s bank is supportive.   The present ground at Pittodrie will be sold for housing.   The project also includes training facilities and a 3,000-seat arena for Highland League side Cove Rangers, quite a generous provision given their average attendance.
