Football League dips a toe in the water at Coventry

The Football League has issued a brief statement on the outcome of the judicial review involving Sisu.  Its significance lies in the fact that it has said anything, rather than its content.

Of course, the dispute is a complicated and hostile one as the League points out.   Nevertheless, it is the one organisation that has the capacity to knock heads together.

Understandably it is reluctant to threaten to use the nuclear weapon of withdrawing the golden share and throwing Coventry City out of the Football League, but it could exert some pressure on the parties involved.  

However, the football authorities are very reluctant to act in relation to owners who do not discharge their responsibilities to fans.   Unfortunately, the fans are probably the weakest party in this dispute.
