Darlo plan to return home

Darlington 1883 are making plans to return to their home town.  The Quakers want to secure the future of the club by returning to a stadium in Darlington in the next three years, although they admit it is a long shot.   They also have a six year objective to return to the Blue Square Bet Premier which will take three promotions from the Northern League.

Meanwhile, fans are upset that admission changes at next weekend’s game at West Auckland Town are to be doubled to £10.   The club have been taking as many as 1,000 fans to away games and West Auckland say they need the money to pay for extra stewarding.

This is hardly likely to cost £5,000 and Darlo fans are talking of boycotting the game.   Of course, the notion of ‘Category A’ games is used even in the Blue Square Premier.   Given the number of phoenix clubs with their large fan bases, there may be a case for looking at the price structure rather than allowing one off price hikes of this kind.
