Crawley Town has been put up for sale and the club has already been approached by an interested party. It has been emphasised that this is not a fire sale and the financial support of the owners will continue until a sale has been concluded.

Former benefactor Bruce Winfield saved the club from extinction in 2009 and died in 2011.   The current owners were business associates of Mr Winfield, but almost nothing is known about them.  The two main shareholders are believed to be a banker and restaurant owner based in Hong Kong.

Crawley is an attractive purchase in that it is in a prosperous area near to London and a major international airport.   However, that closeness to London, and the fact that the club was propelled from the Conference to League One in two seasons, means that the fan base requires development.   Many residents of Crawley interested in football may have attachments to London clubs.   The infrastructure of the club also requires improvement, so the club needs someone with deep pockets.
