Troubled Conference club Chester City say they could be only weeks away from folding. They are forecasting losses of £660,000 for the current financial year. Attendances are struggling to hit four figures, half of what was predicted. They have given up hope of appealing against their 15-point deduction and look likely to suffer a second consecutive relegation. They also face a legal challenge from Vauxhall Motors after they refused to pay for Paul Taylor, the striker they agreed a £30,000 fee for last year. There are no signs of any investors in the offing.

However, Blue Square North club Hyde United have escaped closure after raising the £35,000 needed to keep the club alive. After receiving pledges of nearly £25,000, 50 players, directors and supporters went to the City of Manchester stadium on Monday night for the fixture with West Ham and raised £8,000. The winding up petition is expected to be dismissed without any difficulty. However, Zamaretto Midlands outfit Bromsgrove Rovers have been forced into administration after being issued with a winding up order. The decision was taken after former chairman John Teece made the winding up move over an alleged unpaid bill of more than £5,000. A consortium have approached the club with an offer.
