Former owner Richard Murray stays on the board and Peter Varney, formerly the club’s CEO, serves as vice-chairman for corporate strategy.

The takeover will bring much needed financial stability to the cash strapped South-East London club.   Michael Slater has stated that he is committed to providing a long-term financial platform which will enable the club to take advantage of  what is happening in the South-East region (the Thames Gateway project is one example).

Slater emphasised in a statement on the club’s official website, ‘What we won’t do is create unrealistic pie in the sky expectations.  We will always live within our means’.
