Bristol stadium plans not hit by World Cup blow

The decision not to allocate the 2018 World Cup to England will not affect Bristol City’s plans to build a new stadium.  After all, you don’t build a stadium for just four games.  Well, perhaps you do in Qatar, but they intend to dismantle them and send them to poor countries afterwards, one of the incentives they offered to boost their bid.

Perhaps the cooling systems could be put in reverse and the stadiums used in the new destination of Antarctica where there would be plenty of penguins but not many fans.  Fans in Qatar may have a few problems if they are women, gay, or want to have a drink somewhere other than in a controlled environment.

The World Cup would have given Bristol a boost, but its loss is an even bigger hit for Plymouth which has more economic challenges to cope with.
