Boro crippled by wage bill

Middlesbrough are being crippled by a wage bill that is greater than that of QPR and Cardiff combined.  However, chairman Steve Gibson has vehemently denied suggestions that the club is close to entering administration.

Only four players are out of contract this summer, while 14 or 15 are out of contract next year.   Manager Tony Mowbray has warned that ambitions of a return to the Premiership will have to wait for two or more years.    He commented, ‘Potentially the team is going to get a lot worse before it gets better, because how do you sell a player on X amount and bring one in on X divided by four, who’s better than the one on X?’
