Blackburn Rovers Supporters’ Trust have carried out an analysis of the club’s accounts and fear that it could be facing a potential loss of £40m in the year to June.
This is largely because of a £30m fall in revenue following relegation from the Premiership and a net cash outflow of £40m. However, the club has also incurred heavy compensation payments. Some six weeks ago a judge ordered the club to pay Henning Berg £2.25m in severance money after he was dismissed after 57 days as manager.
Michael Appleton, who was sacked after 67 days in charge at Ewood Park, is believed to have been paid compensation of £500,000, the equivalent of a year’s salary.
