Fan-run Chester FC look set to lose £75,000 this season.   The BSB North leaders made a profit of £107,826 in their first season after they were formed following the winding up of one time Football League club Chester City.   Last season they made a small loss of £2,970.

Manager Neil Young has denied that the loss occured because he exceeded his playing budget.  Even if they are promoted to the Conference next season, Chester have no intention of going full time.

These results reminded us that even a well-run fan-led club has no magic formula for avoiding losses.  If they want to succeed, and in this case eventually reclaim their Football League status, they have to pay good wages to players even at the second tier non-league level.
