Leicester City will earn £93m from the distribution of Premier League television money this season if they win the title.  This is £21m more than last year, but the big financial rewards will come next season.

The extra £21m comes mainly from the difference in prize money.   The champions will receive a merit payment of £25m compared with the £8.7m that Leicester received for finishing 14th last season.  The club will also get £14m in facility fees for appearances in live matches compared with £8.8m a year ago.

Leicester are in the group stage of the Champions League and that will bring a guaranteed income of £30m in prize money and television rights from Uefa.   The new television deal will also mean clubs’ income increases by between 50 and 60 per cent depending on where they finish in the table.

As champions Leicester would also be able to negotiate a substantially higher deal for shirt sponsorship and stadium naming rights.   However, season ticket prices have been frozen.

Leicester should double the £2.5m the club earned from merchandise and replica kit sales.  They sold out of replica shirts weeks ago, losing about £1m in possible sales.
