This article suggests that Scottish football has never known harder jobs with relatively few jobs available for players.  It suggests that the short-term answer is for players to look for jobs abroad which would be good for them and the national game.   However, some of the destinations mentioned are relatively ‘minor league’: Cyprus, Iceland, India.

There are some serious challenges facing Scottish football and no easy answers, particularly in the present financial climate.  But wallowing in a national pall of gloom could also be self-defeating, even though this article does try to put forward a partial solution.
