Chairman Wayne Bradley has put a good share of his personal fortune into bankrolling Alfreton’s four division rise from the Northern Counties East to the Football Conference. They have made an impressive start to the season. However, gates often struggle to break through the 500 barrier which many teams at a lower level easily exceed.
Located in Derbyshire, Alfreton has a population of just under 25,000 including nearby villages. It was historically a coal mining area, but now relies on employment in warehousing and services. Mansfield is the nearest league club.
However, The Non-League Paper has reported that talks between Bradley and potential Asian investors are at an advanced stage. Representatives of a far east group have been seen round the club in recent days. Quite what their strategy might be if they do invest remains to be seen.
