Are owners entitled to claim back what they put in?

A couple of Blackpool fans have already defended the payments made to Owen Oyston by the club in comments on this page.   Now manager Ian Holloway has leapt to his defence, pointing out that he rescued the club when it was in danger of going bust.

A couple of Blackpool fans have already defended the payments made to Owen Oyston by the club in comments on this page.   Now manager Ian Holloway has leapt to his defence, pointing out that he rescued the club when it was in danger of going bust.

This raise an issue of significance beyond the specific example of Blackpool?   Do we take too seruously the old joke that the way to make a small fortune is to start with a large one and buy a football club?  If an owner pumps money into a club and turns it round is he not entitled to claim back at least some of their investment?
