However, the spread is not that great.   The ratio from top to bottom club is 1.531 which is claimed to be the most equitable of all the leading football leagues in Europe. QPR, who finished last, get £64.9m which works out at £2m a point.  All this is before the effects of the new television deal kick in which could see revenues rise by as much as 50 per cent.

Parachute payments will be cut from four years to three, and down to two for teams who had only one season in the top flight.   The hope is that will encourage promoted clubs to try and stay up rather than taking the increased revenue and planning for relegation.
