It appears that you don’t have to be a Premiership club to secure a good shirt sponsorship deal.  Indeed, Coventry City have secured a deal that is better than that received in the last year or so by some lower level Premiership clubs.

They have signed a £1 million three-year deal with express delivery company City Link.  The deal will become a seven figure one if the Sky Blues get promoted to the Premiership during that period.  City Link replace international property development firm Cassidy Developments which has sponsored the club for the past five years.  Until this season the firm also sponsored the Coventry Blaze ice hockey club who recently won the Elite League championship.

City Link, which is a Rentokil Initial subsidiary, opened a new depot in Coventry 18 months ago and recently announced it is consolidating its national hub operations into the city which will become the epicentre for its UK activities.   City Link are a client of Coventry-based PR company Century whose boss John Clarke is an associate director at the football club and played a key role in developing the relationship.
