Surprise purchaser of Port Vale
Lancashire businessman Keith Ryder has been named as the surprise preferred choice to take Port Vale out of administration.
Ryder, who has worked in the financial services and property development industries, was chosen ahead of four other bidders, including local businessman Mo Chaudry who has been trying to buy the club for some time. In many ways he was the preferred choice of fans, but supporters’ groups have pledged that they will work with the new owner.
Rangers should escape liquidation
It is looking increasingly likely that Rangers will be able to escape liquidation and come out of administration by the end of the season through a company voluntary arrangement rather than through the formation of a ‘newco’.
Four bids were submitted by the deadline yesterday evening. Former Rangers director Paul Murray’s Blue Knights consortium is joined by bids from Germany, the United States and Singapore. Sale Sharks owner Paul Kennedy said that he would only bid if he thought the winner would put the club into liquidation.
At least three bidders for Vale
Three bids have already been made for Port Vale FC and more might well come in. At present neither former director Mo Chaudry or local firm International Piping Products have made a bid.
Joint administrator Bob Young told fans at an open meeting, “We have three offers already and we’re talking to three other parties with a couple of those likely to make bids,” said Young. “We will set a closing date for bids either tomorrow night or Monday at midday.
Four bidders for Rangers
Duff & Phelps, the administrators running Rangers, have confirmed that a fourth bid has been received for the club. Some mystery surrounds this fourth bid. Some reports suggest that it comes from a Middle East consortium, but others think it is a UK based bid.
‘Grim situation’ at Darlo
Mark Meynell from DFC 1883 has admitted that Darlington is facing an ’emergency’. He commented, ‘It’s a grim picture and we’re in a very difficult place.’
Plenty of interest in Rangers
At least five bidders have emerged to take Rangers out of administration. In pole position are the Blue Knights consortium fronted by former director Paul Murray. Scots businessman Brian Kennedy, although claiming to be a reluctant bidder, has garnered some impressive support.
Rangers bidder doesn’t really want the club
It’s a bit odd to put in a bid for a major football club but say that you don’t really want to own it. But that is essentially the position of Scottish businessman Brian Kennedy who has confirmed that he will be among the bidders for Rangers.
Significant interest in Port Vale
There has been significant interest in taking Port Vale out of administration. Staffordshire-based firm International Piping Products have confirmed that they have had initial talks with administrators Begbies Taylor. Local businessman Mo Chaudry, who failed in a bid to buy Vale in 2011, is also interested in investing.
Several bids for Rangers
As expected, there have been several expressions of interest in taking Rangers out of administration. These include prospective bids from America and the Far East. The administrators want to sort out which bids are serious and backed by sufficient funds by the end of the week.
Blue Knights ride to rescue at Rangers
The future of Rangers is looking brighter after respected former director Paul Murray confirmed that his ‘Blue Knights’ consortium is finalising an offer to buy the club. Mjurray left the club’s board shortly after Craig Whyte took control.
