Leeds United Football Club play at the Elland Road ground (capacity = 40,296) which was sold by the club in a 25-year sale-lease back deal with a commercial buy-back provision for when the club’s finances improve. This arrangement was one part of a series of measures designed to bring the club back to financial stability after 2003 when the club had been in £121m of debt and also included sale of their training ground, for £4.2m. In January 2005, chairman Gerald Krasner announced the sale of a 50% stake of the club to Ken Bates for £10m.
