The club was founded in 1872 and plays at Rockingham Road ground (capacity = 6,264 – 1,700 seated). Kettering were the first British club to play with a sponsor’s name on their shirts (Kettering Tyres) after a deal was brokered by then Chief Executive and Manager Derek Dougan. Although the Football Association ordered the club to remove the name that year, by 1997 Kettering, along with Derby County and Bolton Wanderers, put forward a proposal to the FA regarding shirt sponsorship which was accepted, on June 3, 1977.
