Rangers face membership deadline

Rangers have until Friday to sort out the membership requirements to play in the Scottish third division. The sticking point in relationship to their membership of the Scottish Football Association is accepting a twelve month transfer embargo.

Rangers argue that their squad has already been seriously weakened as players have gone elsewhere and that they have already been punished enough.  Their critics argue that this punishments reflect the application of the rules and the seriousness of the offences.

Rangers newco chief executive Charles Green has denied that the company received an offer for the club from, or held discussions with, Brian Kennedy.   The Sale Sharks owner has claimed that he had met a Sevco Scotland representative with a view to purchasing a majority stake.
