There are those who have taken pleasure at Dundee’s downfall with a ‘serve them right’ attitude.  But MacLean points out that there were many Division 1 clubs who would have liked a white knight with investment.   With the benefit of hindsight, the model of a single benefactor picking up monthly shortfalls was flawed.   ‘The mistake at Dundee was not to get the money in advance and use it for the long-term benefit of the club and its structure.’
