A Thai consortium headed by Vichai Raksriaksorn looks set to buy a 49 per cent stake in Leicester City.  Milan Mandaric would thus remain in charge, although the rest of his stake could be bought out at some future date.

Raksriaksorn made his money in duty free sales and is estimated to have a personal worth of $180m.  This interest in a Chamionship club shows that English football can attract foreign investors below the top level.   After a quiet period, the start of the new season has seen a lot more activity on the takeover front.
