The Kuwaiti owners insisted that they had to take a long-term view.   With the January transfer window approaching, they are looking for a manager with Premier League experience.   Promotion was not a prerequisite at the start of the season but ambitions have been upgraded.

The Al Hawasis have already spent about £6m in transfer fees since arriving in July.  However, a climate of lingering financial uncertainty remains.   Forest players were paid a day late last month and the club’s credit card was rejected at a Brighton hotel.   However, the owners have insisted that this was simply mismanagement and that there are no underlying financial problems.
