Like virtually all Championship clubs, the Seagulls lose money big time and are reliant on funding by their owners.   Some owners are more generous than others and there is no doubt that Tony Bloom has pumped huge sums into the club.

Since 2007/8 the cumulative losses of the club are no less than £62m and they would have been even larger had the club not made judicious use of player sales.    Match day revenues are also strong, although they fell last season.

All this would pay off if the club got into the Premier League for the first time (they were in the old first division).
